Are you interested in doing a triathlon, but intimidated by your weakest sport? Are you nervous about not being able to complete the swim? How about the bike? Or are you afraid you will fall apart on the run? We can take the fear out of doing your first triathlon... ALARC's TriQuest Triathlon Team is proud to present the Triathlon Training Program!

The Triathlon Training Program will begin on Sunday, May 18, 2008 and will initially meet at Start Line Running Store in Minnetonka.  There will be 7 sessions meeting Sundays from 3-6 pm (pool swim clinic class times may vary) through June 29th. Each session will consist of hands-on instruction integrated with group workouts designed to maximize your triathlon experience and performance. The location will vary depending on the workout planned.

You will get:

  • An ALARC TriQuest performance t-shirt
  • Two swim clinics conducted by a professional swim coach
  • Organized group training sessions including regular open water practice swims, bike rides and runs
  • Sessions covering:
    •   Basic bike maintenance
    •   Getting through transitions
    •   Triathlon-specific running tips
    •   How to maximize racing performance through nutrition and hydration
    •   Mental training and race strategies
    •   Gear overview and recommendations

You will need:

  • A swim suit
  • Swim goggles
  • A bike (mountain, road, cross, triathlon-specific/time trial -- any type)
  • A bike helmet
  • Running shoes

This program is designed for anyone looking to do their first triathlon or those who have completed a triathlon, but would like more experience and basic information on training and racing. You will be training with the goal of completing the MinneMan Sprint Triathlon on July 5th, 2008 (1/3 mi swim, 13 mi bike, 3 mi run).  Athletes must register for this race separately.  Race registration is NOT included in the class registration fee and we cannot guarantee entry once these races have filled.  Please be sure to register as soon as possible.  Go to MidwestEvents.com for race registration information.

The cost of the program is $100.  The registration fee is non-refundable.
